Defining effective treatment & research strategies through multidisciplinarity
The 13th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC 13) was held in Barcelona, Spain from 16-18 November 2022. The conference brought together over 1700 breast cancer specialists, patient advocates as well as other stakeholders from over 80 countries. Its aim is to educate and update the breast cancer community on the best treatment strategies, so that their patients receive the highest quality of care. EBCC 13 provided a platform for all stakeholders to critically present and review new data, interact with leading experts in the field. This conference was a hybrid meeting offering an in person conference with live streaming of sessions for those delegates that could not participate physically.
Based on the 10 step breast cancer patient journey, the programme provided breast cancer specialists up to date information on all areas of breast cancer management. The conference challenged present day thinking to educate on optimal treatment and care. Over 120 multidisciplinary key opinion leaders presented their latest findings and provided information that the oncologists will be able to use in their daily practice.
The conference also hosted a media programme inviting journalists from around the world to write about the latest data. For EBCC-13 coverage, a total of over 2500 stories have been published in 54 countries and in 19 different languages. Extensive coverage was also gained on local and national media outlets in Spain.
